#HOMES FOR ALL

We are delighted to announce that we have employed two engagement officers and will be running a homeless project; #HomesForAll.

Homelessness in Derry/Londonderry is once again on the rise 8610 households presented as homeless to the Northern Ireland Housing Executive during January-June 2021. Rent increases, rise in prices for food, electricity and heating, benefit cuts, zero-hour contracts, and a chronic housing shortage have resulted in difficulty for those. individuals trying to find and those trying to keep a permanent home.

Becoming homeless can happen to anyone. Many people think you are only homeless if you are sleeping rough but there are many situations where a person is classed as homeless. A person may be homeless if they are:

  • Staying with friends or family

  • Staying in a hostel

  • Staying in a bed and breakfast

  • Living in very overcrowded conditions

  • At the risk of violence if they stay in their home

  • Living in poor conditions that is damaging their health

  • Living in a house that is unsuitable for them

Here at the 4R’s, we want to highlight the ongoing problem that is hidden homelessness and remove the stigma of being homeless.

We believe no one should be without a home. The #Homesforall project aims to help individuals make a house a home.

We will try to help any individual referred to us so that the transition from being homeless to finding their new home is that bit easier. Follow our homeless project Facebook page 4R's #Homesforall for more information on what the project was all about.

Due to funding restraints this project is no longer active.
